Off season OTA’s are well underway in Philadelphia giving us starved Eagles fans a chance to look forward to the season ahead.
The Eagles have been using these valuable sessions to bring their new look offence together under Head Coach Chip Kelly.
It will be the first chance Kelly and his staff have to mould their starting line-up in the lead up to the season opener on the 14th of September in Atlanta.
That starting offence could look something like this
Quarterback – Sam Bradford
Bradford was brought in to be the starter and he will be just that. The big question mark is always injury. Bradford’s knee has improved in the past week since the start of OTA’s. If this rate of improvement continues he should be right to go come Week 1.
Running Back – DeMarco Murray
It’s not every day you get to replace a league leading rusher with another and the Eagles have done just that with Murray. Getting the same productivity out of him that the Cowboys did a year ago will see the Birds well on the way to returning to the playoffs.
Wide Receiver – Jordan Matthews, Nelson Agholor, Josh Huff*
It will be a young receiving corp in Philadelphia, but what an exciting pair they will be. 1st round draft pick Agholor will pair with second year man Matthews, fresh off 872 yards and 8 TD’s in his rookie season. If Kelly opts to go with three wideouts then Josh Huff comes into the frame with Agholor playing in the slot. This speedy trio will cause a lot of defensive co-ordianators around the league sleepless nights.
Tight End – Zach Ertz, Brent Celek*
Ertz is coming off a somewhat disappointing 2014 season. The pass catching tight end went seemed to disappear for weeks at a time. It’s time for him to take the starting spot for his own and start to make an impact that the likes of Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski do to their teams. Celek will be used as a starter if Kelly opts for two tight ends and two wide receivers.
Offensive Line – Jason Kelce (Centre), Evan Mathis (Left Guard), Allen Barbre (Right Guard), Jason Peters (Left Tackle), Lane Johnson (Right Tackle)
Its a big year for the offensive line given the clear shift in focus towards the running game of Murray, Ryan Matthews and Sproles. In 2014 injuries plagued the line and that told down the stretch. Rumours have Evan Mathis leaving the club. Something must be resolved to keep Mathis as his loss will leave a big a hole.
